The winner advances to the SCG, with Illawarra officials in discussion with tournament officials over the competition rules, amid concern the visiting team is declared the winner in the event of a washout.
‘‘We’ll do everything we can to ensure the game can be played and also look at what options are available should it be washed out,’’ Illawarra cricket president Mark Johnston said.
It would be a cruel fate should a washout on Sunday leave Illawarra eliminated and they would consider any available date to ensure the match is played before the SCG Finals on December 6.
The South Coast Crew, featuring players from South Coast, Shoalhaven and Highlands take on Orana Outlaws in Dubbo next Friday night for a spot in the SCG Finals.
Meanwhile, Helensburgh’s Mitch McCrae and Nathan Marciante have been included in the Flames squad to take on Blasters, with marquee men Dan Constable, Kyle Brockley and Tylar Edwards unavailable due to Sydney Grade ties.
Marciante scored an unbeaten 100 in a match-winning 195-run stand with Hayden McCrae for the Burgh against Wests in Illawarra cricket last Saturday.
