Six weeks out from Santa’s arrival, Wollongong council has launched its annual giving tree appeal to collect toys and gift cards for the city’s disadvantaged children.

Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery said the appeal helped to spirit of Christmas to people “doing it tough”.
“For most of us, donating a gift is a small gesture, but it can make a big difference to a child or teenager who otherwise might go without,” he said.

HOW TO DONATE
Unwrapped gifts or gift cards suitable for kids up to 16 years old will be collected at the following locations until December 18:
- Council’s Customer Service area, 41 Burelli Street, Wollongong
- Council libraries
- Corrimal Leagues Club
- Figtree Grove and Warrawong Plaza Customer Service Desks
- iHub Visitor Information Centre, 93 Crown Street, Wollongong
- iC Central (Bldg 230) Ground Floor Atrium, UOW Innovation Campus
- Novotel Northbeach
- Port Kembla Golf Club
- WAVE FM Warrawong
- Wests Illawarra
- Customer Service Desk, Wollongong Central (level 1).
Alternatively, cash donations can be made through Wollongong City Council.
The annual Bikers Toy Run will also be held on Saturday 5 December in support of the Giving Tree Appeal.
