The first of 228 girders that form the new Princes Highway bridge at Berry were put in place on Friday.

“Seeing the girders placed on the bridge is a great example of the progress being made on this key Princes Highway upgrade project,” Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra, and Member for Kiama, Gareth Ward said.
“The girders will form the bridge deck and are being lifted into place using a 500-tonne crane.”
Work to install the beams on the bridge, which spans 620 metres, will continue until mid-next year.
The bridge forms part of the $580 million Foxground and Berry Princes Highway bypass.
The bypass project is expected to be complete by mid-2018, weather permitting.
