The government announced just prior to last year’s state election it would invest $251 million to redevelop Shellharbour Hospital.
Ms Watson wants NSW health minister Jillian Skinner to prioritise the project in this year’s state budget.
“It’s time to stop the paper-shuffling, get the funding flowing … and start getting shovels into the ground,” she said. Mrs Skinner said the business case for the upgrade was complete and planning work ongoing.
“Our commitment to improving the Illawarra’s health infrastructure is solid,” she said. Work is expected to begin this term of government.
