Nicholas Toso, 20, from Menai, pleaded guilty to a single charge of filming a person’s private parts without consent during his first appearance in Wollongong Court on Tuesday.
Police documents said Toso had taken advantage of the woman’s partially open legs to film up her skirt on October 15 last year as they sat in individual study booths in the library.
The woman told police she noticed Toso acting suspiciously with his phone in hand as she got up to leave and informed the librarian.
Police later released a CCTV image of Toso, prompting him to turn himself in and confess to the crime.
Magistrate Geraldine Beattie ordered a sentencing options report, noting the offence was a “very serious matter”.
Toso will return to court on March 29.
