But the story behind the single mum-of-three’s motivating attitude is inspiring. And it’s her reason for signing up to the Cancer Council’s “Dancing with the Stars” style event, Dance For Cancer.
She is one of 11 other local personalities - including Mercury reporter Desiree Savage - to be partnered with a dancer to learn a routine and raise money for a good cause. The end result a gala dinner showcasing their talents on June 4.
Accepting the offer was a no-brainer for the 42-year-old who is a third generation cancer sufferer.
“I lost the most precious soul my Grandfather to lymph cancer, my dad has had prostate cancer and today still battles with it, and I had my personal experiences with cervical cancer,” she said.
Her dad was diagnosed four years ago, just a month before Ms Kayle was to get her own bad news, but earlier this month doctors feared the disease has returned.
When Ms Kayle was diagnosed, it was because her mother had wanted someone to go with her to get a papsmear as moral support.
“If I didn’t go it probably would have been too late,” she said. “Women need to get them done once a year, I don’t care what the doctors say it’s not worth the risk.”
At the same time her marriage of eight years broke down.
“I was trying to get through that and getting my girls okay and helping my dad. I was taking my dad back and forth to Sydney for treatment because my mother doesn’t drive and so I kind of never had time to deal with me,” she said. “My kids were my motivation. Without them I don’t know how I would have gotten through it.”
It’s not the first time Ms Kayle has had to rebuild herself. After leaving her first unhappy marriage with nothing, she sold flowers outside a Sydney car wash to pay the rent.
From there it grew into an events management business which her best friend still runs today. She set out to prove to her children that life is what you make it. And so was borne her Live Committed gym.
“My will to survive has always been pretty high and that’s how I live my life. I feel like I’m on a treadmill and failure’s not an option. I got big dreams and I want to empower women,” she said. “I know what it’s like to feel alone like no-one’s there … everyone needs someone to know that it’s okay.”
Ms Kayle is passionate about giving back to the community in any way she can because “the gift of giving is priceless”.
“I want to show my kids how to give, give, give. Everyone is capable but people don’t care enough really,” she said. “If I can change peoples lives in anyway be it through the gym, mind set, or physically or emotionally … that’s the legacy I want to leave.”
