The Nowra boy pleaded guilty in Nowra Children’s Court on Friday to Skye’s Law police pursuit not stop drive dangerously and with never being licensed to driving.
The court heard the youth had four passengers, including his father, in the car at the time.
The white Subaru Forester station wagon was first seen by police near Shoalhaven High School at 12.50pm Thursday and despite officers activating lights and sirens, the driver failed to stop.
The car led police vehicles on a pursuit through a number of back streets streets of South Nowra and Nowra, onto the Princes Highway, across the Shoalhaven River bridge and through a number of streets in Bomaderry.
Court papers said at times the car travelled on or below the speed limit, while at others travelled at 90km/h in a 50 zone.
Police documents said the vehicle overtook other cars, cut corners, travelled over roundabouts, through stop signs, weaved through traffic and onto the wrong side of the road.
During the chase in Bomaderry, smoking was streaming from the vehicle and it eventually stopped in Meroo Road near Victa Way after a mechanical failure.
A number of police in 10 vehicles detained the five men.
When officers got to the vehicle it was still running but didn’t have a key in the ignition.
Court documents said a number of wires in the steering column had been taped together.
The youth allegedly told police the car belonged to his cousin.
Officers searched the vehicle and the men, with the driver and another young passenger arrested and taken to Nowra police station.
Three other passengers in the car, including the boy’s father, were released at the scene.
The young passenger has been interviewed by police and is assisting officers with inquiries.
Court documents stated the driver was on parole for a similar offence at the time.
He was refused bail by Magistrate Darryl Pearce and will be sentenced in Nowra Children’s Court on May 19.
