Trailing 4-0 at the break, the Knights comeback hopes were aided early in the second half when Sharks playmaker Brock Skelly was sent off for a high tackle. They took full advantage as they marched clear for an eight point win which sees them move outright first in the league.
“It is big for the club,” coach Luke Muttdon said.
“I think we still have only lost one game as a club through the first six weeks. We’re top of the Club Championship and there is a good feeling around the club.”
Dylan Morris bagged a second half double for the Knights while Marc Laird and James Brown also scored tries. Their efforts cancelled out tries from Kurt Field and James Keelan which had put the Sharks right in the contest until Kiama fought off the challenge.
“I think it was a biggest test so far this season. They threw a bit at us but the boys just keep doing those little one per centers,” Muttdon said.
“The boys just kept showing up for each other and probably character wise it was our biggest effort of the year.”
