Twenty Twenty Restaurant at TAFE Illawarra’s Wollongong campus was the scene of a graduation on Tuesday for students from the Faculty of Human Services, Tourism and Hospitality.

Among the achievement award winners were Samantha Jeffrey who was recognised for coming first in the Diploma Events course, Karlee McNamara won an achievement award as a continuing student in Certificate III in Events and Hayley Munilla won the Motivational Award for a continuing student. Lachlan Turner won the Encouragement Award for his achievements in the Certificate III in travel.
“As teachers we are very fortunate to be working with students of such a high calibre,” Tourism, Travel and Events teacher Sherryl Sherson said.
Santa Claus Pub Crawl founder Neil Webster told the graduates opportunities come in many shapes and forms. The best thing was to accept both the challenges and the opportunities and “trust yourself”.
“Don’t be afraid to fail. As you go through your careers you are going to find that you are going to makes mistakes and things are going to go wrong. But don’t be afraid to take those mistakes and learn from them.”
Other industry representatives were Johnny Petrovic, of Print Media Group, and Justin Norris and Kimberley Humphries, of UOW.
