The Wollongong and Shellharbour makeup artists have just returned from three weeks in Europe where they had the time of their life.
“We were both selected by a Global Hair and Makeup,” Mrs Wenig said.
The working adventure started in Paris before they travelled to Cannes and did two fashions shows. Hollywood stars were among the celebrities they met. They then spent 12 days in Monaco where they were busy the whole time doing makeup for models and television personalities. The Monaco Grand Prix F1 Runway Show and the Amber Lounge Fashion Show were among the main events they worked on.
“The Amber Lounge Fashion Show was really cool. That was raising money for the Amber Foundation. The designer we worked with was Osman who dresses Beyonce and Nicki Minaj,” Mrs Slee said.
Mrs Wenig said everyone was lovely. Language was the only barrier. The only jealousy they encountered was from their husbands at home when they told them they were at the Monaco Grand Prix.
Mrs Slee, of Flawless Makeup Academy, said she and Mrs Wenig had known each other for a long time but did not realise they had each applied for the 12 member team of makeup artists from around Australia. “It was a nice surprise when we saw each others names on the list,’’ she said.
Mrs Slee said she also freelances in Sydney and works with Mrs Wenig on some films.
“I have finished working on a TV show (Hit List) that is on Netflix and now I am just about start working with Deadly Women,” Mrs Wenig said.
The two makeup artists have worked with the Sydney fashion industry before and feel like the opportunities being presented them now are an endorsement of the standard of work they do in Wollongong and Shellharbour.
They said the entire Australian team worked together really well and they expected more opportunities as a result of their success. Mrs Slee said they all learned from each other.
Mrs Wenig, of Unique Makeup Artistry, said they are keen to work internationally again. She was previously invited to Fiji for the World Supermodel Pageant. “I traveled as part of another makeup team for that. There were about 30 contestants.”
