Only a few handful of people showed up to the first Say It Sing It event in May but organisers were happy to see this number increase and more people gather in Crown Street Mall in June and July.
They are expecting another reasonable turnout for the fourth Say It Sing It event on Friday, August 12.
Coordinated by the South Coast Writers Centre and Wollongong City Council, the event includes a small competition of live poetry and music with guest acts and an open mic.
An event spokeswoman said the crowd usually comprises of members of the literary community, regular attendees of the monthly Enough Said poetry slam, as well as curious members of the public who happen to be strolling by.
Kate Pimblett and Alex Stengl will be the guest performers on August 12. The event kicks off at 6pm and runs for an hour, with the competition followed by pop-up performances by the winner and guest acts nearby at The Square café.
