Some athletes sleep with their medal draped around their neck after winning gold at an Olympic Games, but Australia's women's rugby team had theirs locked away in a safe overnight.

And some parents celebrate with a glass of wine or a cold beer, but the parents of the gold medal-winning sevens girls plan to do so with some commemorative ink.
Given there have been several reports of theft inside the athletes' village, the gold medals were locked securely inside a safe in their Rio de Janeiro apartment complex.
And given the party that was about to unfold after overcoming New Zealand to win gold, the Aussies decided to lock their medals away last night for fear of permanently losing them.
"They were actually in our little locked up safe," Charlotte Caslick said.
"We didn't want to take them out because we thought we'd lose them and by the time we got home we were straight into bed. But we haven't taken them off this morning."
Australian Rugby Union boss Bill Pulver whipped out the credit card for a night of celebrations after the Aussie women created history to claim gold against New Zealand at the first rugby sevens event at the Olympics.
Four years of dedication all for that one moment of jubilation - and with their friends and families by their side, the women partied until the early hours of the morning.
"We've only had about two hours sleep but we're still on a massive high," Caslick said.
"I don't think we'll be sleeping until we got home, maybe."
Fair to say the Pulver tab at the Sheraton in Rio will be getting a workout over the next fortnight, considering the girls aren't planning on returning to Australia until after the closing ceremony.
When they do, their parents will have to decide whether to follow through on a pledge made before the Olympics, to celebrate gold with a touch of ink.
"Yes, that was my mum," Alicia Quirk said.
"We're really big on family and we had a family day in Sydney and all the parents got together and celebrated - as they do. They all promised each other they would get tattoos if their daughters won gold.
"At the time I think they were just stoked we were even going to the Olympics. They believe in us but they didn't think it would actually happen. There was a bit of hesitation when people brought it up last night but what they do is up to them. But hopefully not in Brazil, wait until they get home."
No one was quite sure of the impact the rugby sevens, and in particular the women's tournament, would have on the Olympics.
Crowds on the opening day weren't exactly an endorsement for the sport, but the final day of competition justified the IOC's decision to introduce the sport with the women putting on a spectacle in Deodoro that they hope will leave a legacy.
"When we first started, our coach Tim Walsh, he wanted us to achieve our goal of winning an Olympic gold medal, but he also wanted to change the face of women's rugby and to be pioneers in inspiring young girls to be able to have the same pathway that we have," Quirk said.
"Us achieving our dreams yesterday, we only hope other girls can now follow in the same footsteps and emulate what we've done. We had never played rugby four years ago and now look where we are today."
Caslick, who like many of her teammates transferred from touch football to rugby sevens, described the code switch as the best decision of her life.
"The Olympics was definitely the drawcard that made a lot of us convert to rugby sevens," Caslick said.
"It's been the best decision of my life. I guess we've just brought a faster and more skilful game to Australian rugby. We just transformed the way we play and hopefully the stereotype around women's rugby."
