The defending premiers have endured a roller coaster season to finish in fourth spot but, with a host of premiership winners still in their ranks, they certainly won’t surrender their hard-won 2015 crown without a fight.
Turoa’s treble was part of a 10-try haul for the Tigers with Grant Smith, Scott Allan, Ben Ryan, Khan Salimilakis, Mitch McCrae, Guy Gellately and Marcus Fisher also bagging four-pointers. Russell Aitken, Blair Blanchette and Logan Yates got across for the Cougars in their final hit-out of the season.
The Tigers ran in nine tries in a 48-12 win over Berkeley last week and will enter Saturday’s minor semi-final high on confidence against a Collegians outfit who have played just one game in the past three weeks.
