The decision to take the game, a showcase for Australian indigenous talent, was announced by the NRL on Wednesday.
A women’s All Stars games will also be held on February 10. Illawarra officials had been in negotiations about hosting the game at WIN Stadium, as part of a revamp top save the concept, amid concerns about its financial viability. The All Stars announcement comes as St George Illawarra women’s Nines squad full of Illawarra and South Coast talent.
The Dragons team will take on Cronulla on August 27.
“This fixture will help promote awareness of the current opportunities for females to play the game in establish competitions and the rapidly developing representative pathways,” Illawarra rugby league manager Chris Bannerman said.
