The Mustangs return to Ziems Park for the first time this year, chasing a breakthrough win, after a 56-8 loss to the West Sydney Pirates and 28-14 defeat to Central Coast Sharks.
With a washout and a bye restricting the amount of game time, captain Wil Johnston-Sanders believes the Mustangs are starting to find their feet in the competition.
“Quite a few guys are new to the sport, so it’s taken us a while to build our plays,” he said. “It’s such a different sport for those guys who have a rugby league background, so it’s important not to overload them with information.
“But with the improvement we showed in the second game, I think we are going to be really competitive this season.”
One of the Mustangs’ most experienced players, Johnston-Sanders plays a vital role in the team’s offensive line at centre, snapping the ball for the quarterback.
With four games scheduled, the under 19 division Wollongong Brumbies are also hunting a win against Nepean.
