Road closed: The storms also damage Broughton Pass and Wollondilly Council is forced to close it. The pass is a direct link between Appin and Wilton and its closure will add more than 50km to some people’s trips.
Time’s up: The three-month trial of express train stops at Austinmer station ends. Transport for NSW say it will now look at usage figures to see which services would be retained.

Case break: Police make their first arrest in the Boxing Day 2015 murder of Jye McWatters at Warilla. They charge a 39-year-old Warilla man with concealing a “serious indictable offence”.
