The news follows parents’ concerns, voiced by Keira MP Ryan Park, that some of the bus services had a history of running behind time so that students were missing the start of school.
One student reportedly missed the start of a senior exam due to a bus running behind schedule.
“Getting students to and from school safely and on time is a key priority for us,” said a spokeswoman from Transport for NSW.
The buses taking students to and from Bulli High School would be monitored, in line with practice across the state.
“During the first two weeks of the 2017 school year, Transport for NSW contacts operators on a daily basis to ensure services are operating on schedule and that any potential issues are addressed in a timely manner,” the spokeswoman said.
Dions Buses and Premier Illawarra run services to the school and the spokeswoman said “both our operators have been recently meeting all their on-time running requirements”.
The Transport for NSW spokeswoman also said neither bus company had reported any “on-time running issues” so far this year.
She did concede that one bus route did have problems with punctuality in 2016.
“We received feedback about the on-time performance of route 31 servicing Bulli High last year, and the operator made some adjustments to the service in response to these concerns,” she said.
“The performance of this and other school services will continue to be monitored in this new school year and we’ll continue to make adjustments if needed.”
