Emergency services were called to the corner of Willow Grove and Collins Street about 9.45am after a passerby spotted the body lying in a creek bed on Sunday morning.
Police from Wollongong Local Area Command established a crime scene at the location which was examined by forensic experts.
Investigators determined the death of the Corrimal man was not suspicious.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner outlining the full circumstances surrounding the death.
11.30am: A body has been found in Corrimal on Sunday morning, police have confirmed.
Emergency services were called to the corner of Collins Street and Willow Grove about 9.45am.
“Police from Wollongong Local Area Command have established a crime scene, which is going to be examined by forensic experts,” a NSW Police spokesman said.
The body was found in a creek and the Mercury understands the deceased is a male.
The spokesman was unable to say if the death was being treated as suspicious at this stage, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
10.30am: A body has been found in a creek in Corrimal.
A police investigation is underway at the corner of Willow Grove and Collins Street.
A crime scene has been set up and police investigations are continuing.
NSW Ambulance paramedics were also at the scene.
