The bright lights and bevy of acting opportunities in Los Angeles certainly appeals to young Wollongong actor Jade Ryan.
The talented 16-year-old will soon get a small taste of life in the so-called acting capital of the world.
Jade flies out to LA on Saturday for an intensive three-week acting program. The Year 11 St Mary Star of the Sea College student was invited to attend the course by the Australian Institute of Performing Arts (APIA).
APIA only selected 16 Australian drama students for the prestigious acting course in LA.
While in LA Jade will work with some of the film industry’s top casting directors and also act in two short films.
‘’I’m really excited to be going to LA, it’s going to be such an amazing opportunity for me,’’ she said.
‘’I’m going to be working with the film industry’s top casting directors.’’
Jade is also excited about the prospect of being recognised by one of the top LA agents.
The actor/model, who graduated from NIDA’s Young Actors Studio Program, was also ‘’really grateful’’ to AIPA for giving her this opportunity.
‘’I’m also grateful to my parents who fully back me in my dream of becoming a successful screen actress,’’ Jade said.
“There won’t be a lot of downtime in the three weeks I will be in LA. We will be training and acting in two short films. The hard work will be worth it though.’’
Jade has a few acting credits to her name, including as an extra in an episode of Jane Champion’s award-winning TV series, Top Of The Lake.
She is hoping to gather as much industry experience as possible in LA and hopefully impress casting directors in the process.
‘’We will be learning the best ways to type cast yourself, the business side of being an actor and perfecting our craft,’’ Jade said.
‘’When I’m in front of a screen I feel completely at home, I’m really excited about my future and the possibilities.’’
