Travelling to South Africa to take on the Sharks, Miller was one of five changes to the Melbourne Rebels lineup.
And with the Rebels future in doubt, amid an Australian cull next season, Miller was part of a gritty performance in the drawn game.
Miller secured four turnovers, a highlight of his performance, as the Rebels came as close to winning in any of their 12 starts on South African soil.
In a goal-kicking duel, Sharks’ Curwin Bosch put the Sharks ahead 9-6 with three minutes remaining.
But Reece Hodge replied with his third penalty of the game in the final moments.
The Sharks played most of the game a man short, after Andre Esterhuizen was sent off in the 17th minute.
However, the Rebels also were left with 14 with 12 minutes remaining when Nic Stirzaker was marched.
The Rebels play the Kings in Port Elizabeth next Sunday.
