Thousands of people are expected to swoop down to Berkeley on Sunday for the fourth Illawarra Annual Bird Sale Expo.

Run by the Illawarra Parrot Club, the expo at Illawarra Sports Stadium will feature many exotic and native birds, including lutino and albino quakers, blue and gold macaws, Asiatic and Amazon parrots, cockatoos, budgies and finches.

Upwards of 2000 people are expected to attend the June 18 event. Bird enthusiasts will be flocking to the expo from around the Illawarra, Queensland, Inverell, Gosford, Canberra, Orange and Victoria.

A hand-raised blue and gold macaw sold for around $5000 at the 2015 event.

But female macaws were the most common popular birds that people bought from as low as $6.50 to $1000.

The expo runs from 10am-2pm. Entry costs $2, under 12s free. Details at www.illawarraparrotclub.org.au
