On Saturday, premiers Gerringong thumped Berry-Shoalhaven Heads 44-6, falling a converted try short of snatching second place from Jamberoo.
Amazingly, the Lions, Superoos and Kiama are only separated by eight points on for-and-against, with all three clubs on 22 competition points.
And they’re all chasing Shellharbour, who are on 24 and hold a handy buffer on for-and-against.
Whoever slips and finishes fourth will almost certainly play Warilla in an elimination semi-final. And the Gorillas have shown they will not be easily cast aside in premiership hunt, after beating the Lions last week.
Adding to the intrigue, Warilla host Shellharbour next Sunday, while the Lions have a bye.
Gerringong made light work of the Magpies, racing to a 24-nil lead at half-time.
They finished with nine tries, with wingers Joel Doosey and Kristian Jarrett and centre Toby Gumley-Quine each finishing with a double.
