Wolves finals bid still alive

Goals from strike duo Peter Simonoski and Yuzo Tashiro cancelled out a late goal from White Eagles substitute Asmir Kadric. 

The result moved them back in the top five momentarily before they slid to sixth 24 hours later when Sydney Olympic beat Sydney United 58.

They were made to work hard for the points Bonnyrigg Sports Ground despite the White Eagles position outside the finals race. Simonoski’s opener came 31 minutes in when he volleyed home from close range before he turned provider for Tashiro to head in in the 72^nd minute.

Kadric tapped in from close range with two minutes remaining to give the Wolves a few nervous moments.

But the visitors stood firm over the concluding stages to secure a vital victory. 

“It was a disciplined and professional performance away from home,” Wolves coach Jacob Timpano said.

“The boys knew their jobs and roles and everyone executed it so we came away with the points.

“We soaked up a bit of the pressure early on but once we clawed out way into the game we played for the conditions. 

“Simo and Yuzo both took their chances from set pieces and we spoke up that potentially being a difference maker in the match.”

With two matches remaining, Wollongong will more than likely have to win both of their games to give themselves the best possible chance to qualify for finals.
