The WorldSkills regional competition took place at TAFE NSW Wollongong.
About ten TAFE Illawarra students participated in the half-day competition.
The cookery students were challenged to prepare a two-course menu, including main and dessert, using the same theme ingredients.
Restaurant service students provided full service from meet and greets all the way through to serving a flambé cherries jubilee.
The regional event was open to all apprentices, trainees and students under the age of 24.
TAFE NSW regional general manager Kerry Penton said the competition was about providing local apprentices, trainees and vocational students with the chance to test their skills in a competitive environment.
Students awarded medals at regionals will go on to the 2018 WorldSkills National competition in Sydney, to compete against the best young tradespeople and students from throughout the country.
This was one of several regional WorldSkills events at TAFE Illawarra this week.
