Hosted by Illawarra Baby and Child Loss Support, ‘Remember Me – A Bridge Walk For Babies’ took place on Sunday.
In memory of her first-born son, Jude, Amanda Jennings and her family and friends joined other bereaved families on International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day to walk the Seacliff Bridge.
This day enables parents and families to honour their babies who passed away from miscarriage, stillbirth or new-born death.
Amanda’s baby, Jude Marlow Gaskell was stillborn at 38 weeks on June 16.
“This walk gives my family and friends a chance to come together and acknowledge and remember my beautiful boy with me,” Amanda said.
The walk began at Moronga Park, Clifton and ended at Coalcliff Community Centre, where families could attend a remembrance ceremony.
About 240 walkers raised more than $1000 for Red Nose, for research and bereavement support.
“We wanted to give families, their friends and our community a chance to walk in remembrance, to take the steps these precious little people will never get to take, and to promote the support that is available to these families,” Siria Thomas, facilitator of Illawarra Baby and Child Loss Support said.
