Aiming for a top-five finish, Dawson is regarded as one of Australia’s best and quickest ultimate frisbee talents.
It comes after Dawson represented Australia at the World Games in July, finishing fourth.
Australia went down in the bronze medal game 13-11 against Canada, with the US winning gold.
The Australian team had beaten Japan, Poland and silver medallists Colombia during the preliminary rounds.
The Wollongong team, known as Krank, has had number of personnel changes for the Hobart campaign.
Krank finished sixth at the Townsville tournament in 2014, their best ever result.
The three-day tournament begins on Friday, including 16 teams, including five from Sydney.
A fast-paced sport, ultimate frisbee includes elements of netball, soccer and American football.
