Mount Keira search continues for missing man, Aaron Bennett

Wollongong police have issued a public appeal for help to find a missing man, as a search continues at Mount Keira on Thursday.

Aaron Bennett, 31, was last in contact with his family on Tuesday.

Mr Bennett, also known as Aaron Higgins, has not been seen since.

Police and family have concerns for his welfare due to a possible medical condition.

He is described as being Caucasian in appearance, 175 to 180 centimetres tall, with a thin build.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police and SES crews began a search of the area around the Mount Keira lookout on Wednesday afternoon.

A helicopter crew was called in to scan the escarpment from above during the multi-agency operation.

As part of the operation, a Sydney-based Westpac Life Saver helicopter spent at least an hour conducting a number of sweeps of the area around the lookout’s viewing platform.

SES units from Wollongong, Coniston, Shellharbour and Kiama were involved in the search on Wednesday.

They were called in to help members of the NSW Police Rescue squad.

Three SES units returned to the area on Thursday morning as the search continued.
