Beautiful mermaid Ariel should be a happy girl - she lives in an enchanted undersea kingdom, her father is the King of the Sea, and she has the most beautiful singing voice. But she is a passionate, headstrong teenager, and wants what she cannot have - to live on land.

Illawarra Folk Festival
Originating at Jamberoo in 1985, the Illawarra Folk Festival has grown into one of the largest festivals in Australia run entirely by volunteers. The festival at the Bulli Showgrounds is four exciting summer days of folk, world, roots, bluegrass, gypsy and Celtic music, as well as poetry, comedy and dance. Kevin Welch, Eric Bogle and Darren Coggan are among the national and international artists performing.

Kids Day Out
Another free activity to keep children entertained, and inspired about books, will on at the Dapto Ribbonwood Centre on January 18. The annual Kids Day Out is hosted by the Children’s Book Council of Australia (Illawarra South Coast Sub-Branch). Authors and illustrators will keep the attention of kids aged three up to 13 at the free event with writing and illustrating workshops, poetry, rhythm and rhyme from 10am to 2pm. Camp Sixers
Get down to the Croome Rd Sporting Complex for a high-energy, entry level cricket program with the Sydney Sixers. The camp uses music and games based cricket activities which gets gets playing like their T20 heroes. There will also be a visit from the ever popular Syd Sixer.

Kiama Antique Fair
Kiama Rotary's annual Antiques, Art and Retro Charity Fair will be held on Saturday and Sunday at Kiama Leisure Centre on Havilah Place. The Fair is the club’s largest single fundraiser of the year and has become a fixture on Kiama’s event calendar for locals and visitors alike. Funds raised help support important Rotary projects such as: polio eradication, international humanitarian aid and various local youth programs. There will be jewellery, furniture, china and collectables. Entry Cost: Adults $10 Concessions $7 Children Under 16 Free.

Albion Park Show
On this Saturday and Sunday. at the Albion Park Showground. See the Show Girl competition, enjoy the showjumping in the main area, miniature ponies and the animal farmyard. Vintage cars provided by members of the South Coast Vintage Car Club, dog high jump, motor cycle display, hay rolling team competition, Shellharbour tug of war competition, novelty events, parade lap of derby cars, demolition derby - last one on wheels wins - and closing Fireworks. Minis in the Gong Car Show
The annual "Minis in the Gong" Car Show is one of the largest Mini gatherings in NSW. Classic Minis, Mini Mokes, BMW Minis and Mini Variants (Elf, Hornet, Buckle, Marcos, Sports Racing and more) are welcome to attend. There is free entry for eligible cars and the general public. Don’t be fussy about the condition of your Mini, if it’s drivable they want to see it there. There are prizes for Car of the Year and Peoples Choice. Illawarra Hawks v Adelaide 36ers
The Illawarra Hawks need to keep winning to keep their hopes of playing in the 2017-18 finals series of the National Basketball League alive. Another big crowd is expected to pack out the WIN Entertainment Centre for what will be a crucial game against a side the Hawks have had some huge battles with in recent seasons.
