A NSW Department of Education spokesman confirmed there had been a “lockdown safety procedure” at the school.
“The safety procedure was initiated to ensure students’ safety when an incident emerged,” the spokesman said.
“The prompt response enabled staff to manage the incident effectively.
“The school was supported by police and no-one was injured.”
The Mercury understands the incident, which happened about 11am, involved one student.
No further details about the incident were provided.
The school has since returned to normal operation.
In correspondence from the school, seen by the Mercury, the school’s principal Jodi Niedermayer said the procedure “worked [as] well as rehearsed and students and staff are congratulated on their response”.
