While many people in the Illawarra will be out enjoying their Easter holidays, the far South Coast township will be continuing their efforts on rebuilding their lives and their homes.
The bushfires earlier this month destroyed 65 houses, 35 caravans and cabins and damaged so many more. Luckily no lives were lost.
While the needs of many people are still being assessed, the Bega Valley Mayoral Appeal Fund has been established to raise money to directly assist those impacted by the fires.
The Illawarra community will have a chance to make a donation to that fund with the Rotary Club of Wollongong collecting for the fund at the Family Fun Day at the Botanic Gardens on Easter Saturday.
The Easter Family Fun Day, presented by the Rotary Club of Wollongong, will be held between 10 am-1 pm at the Wollongong Botanic Gardens on Easter Saturday.
It will feature Easter egg hunts, children’s entertainment and theatre and animals from Symbio.
