The Salvation Army with the support of local solicitors is co-ordinating a Wills Day in Port Kembla on April 18, for a $75 donation to their local services.
Karen Walker, community fundraising and public relations co-ordinator, Illawarra Regional Office of The Salvation Army said it can cost between $300 and $1200 to have a simple Will drawn up by a solicitor.
At the Salvos Wills Days you can pay $50 to have a solicitor create a Will.
“A $400 bequest to the Salvos can ensure a child has a school uniform and school supplies for a year, and $750 could provide a safe place for one week for a person fleeing a crisis fleeing domestic violence,” Mrs Walker said.
“Also, $10,000 will provide over 2000 meals to emergency workers and displaced people during a natural disaster.
“There is no obligation to provide a bequest to The Salvation Army. If, after taking care of your loved ones, you would like to support our services, you are of course most welcome to do so.”
You can book in for a 20-minute appointment for Wednesday, April 18 at The Foundery, at 132 Wentworth Street, Port Kembla.
If you would like to make an appointment, contact Mrs Walker on 0438 435 705 between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday, or book online at salvos.org.au.
