Children hunted chocolate Easter eggs at various points across the Illawarra including residential backyards, Jamberoo Action Park, Illawarra Fly, Bulli’s Foragers Markets and The Farm’s Market at Killalea State Park.

Christian churches were full of song celebrating the most important festival (bigger than Christmas), the resurrection of Christ. For the unfamiliar, in the Bible Christ was crucified on what is known as Good Friday and rose from the dead three days later, the foundation of the Christian faith.
At Wollongong’s Wesley Church on the Mall, they celebrated Easter Sunday with a non-traditional approach – bringing in the Belmore Basin Jazz Band, Captain Bob and Friends, Mick On Wheels and the Swingalele’s.
Reverend Geoffrey Flynn said Wesley has been jazzing up their Easter services for more than 20 years, while their congregation usually swells.
“I think it makes it welcoming for people who might not come regularly,” he said. “Easter is about the emotion of joy and about new life, and jazz has always been something … to celebrate that there is life beyond the grave.”
