Landslide closes Mt Keira Rd

Mt Keira Rd will be closed for the weekend after a landslide.The road will be closed between the lookout and the archery range.The lookout will be open over the weekend.A Wollongong City Council spokeswoman said council officers will reassess the road closure on Monday.Last night’s rain also caused dramas on the road for drivers across the Illawarra.Floodwater closed Lady Carrington Dr at Otford about 7pm after a car stalled on the flooded road.The car had begun to fill with water but no-one was injured.The vehicle had to be left at the scene and is expected to be salvaged later today.About the same time a southbound car overturned on the F6 between the Bulli Pass exit and Cataract Creek, causing extensive traffic delays.The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.Further south, the fire brigade was called to BlueScope Steel after a fire broke out on a conveyer.However the company’s industrial fire crew had extinguished it by the time firefighters arrived.
