Wollongong woman bound and raped: court

A Wollongong man tied a woman's arms to a bedhead and raped her before spitting on her and pouring beer on her head, a court has heard.John Biancucci is accused of sexually assaulting the woman in her home, tying her arms with motorbike ties and rope before forcing himself on her, Wollongong Local Court heard yesterday.Police claim the 30-year-old was in the woman's bedroom on Sunday night when he ripped the doona off her bed and grabbed her arms, tying one to the bed with a motorbike tie.The woman kicked Biancucci as she tried to fight him off but he grabbed her by the throat and swore at her, facts presented to the court stated.Biancucci then allegedly grabbed another rope and tied the woman's other arm to the bed.Police claimed the woman continued to kick the man in an attempt to stop the assault but he kicked her in the leg. She screamed for help as Biancucci sexually assaulted her, the facts said. It was stated Biancucci then stood up, spat on the woman and called her a "slut" before he poured a beer on her head. The woman managed to escape and locked herself in the toilet.Police claimed he eventually knocked the door down, grabbed the woman by her hair and pulled her into the hallway, where he kicked her and spat on her.The court was told the woman had bleeding and bruising around her arms, neck, thighs and legs.Biancucci was later charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, sexual intercourse without consent and damaging property.Making a bid for bail yesterday, solicitor Angela Melouney said her client had strong connections to the community and would strenuously deny the allegations.Magistrate Doug Dick refused bail and adjourned the matter until February 1.
