His business is a small one, but one that will feel the heat all the same.
"It will have an impact on everyone, in all kinds of jobs. People won't have money to get their cars fixed, do the things they want to do, it's going to get everyone," Mr Dallimore said.
The owner of Montague Smash Repairs and Towing Service in Warilla said no one is immune and has pledged his support to the "save our steelworks" campaign.
"A lot of jobs are going to be lost in the Illawarra so we all need to get behind the steelworks," he said.
"When something as big as this happens there's a flow-on effect. It affects all of us. It will swell as people don't have money. Jobs will be lost, people just don't realise it transfers down to everything, even shops and who knows what."
From people who make metal to those who make sandwiches, there is hardly an employment sector that won't be affected by a possible steelworks shutdown.
A report on the economic impact of a closure said it would cost the Illawarra $3.3 billion. And most of the industries affected have nothing to do with making steel.
The report includes 28 employment sectors making up the $3.3 billion total losses - with three of the five worst-hit sectors not specifically steel-related.
Finance and insurance are tipped to lose $106 million, retail trade $62 million and transport and postal services $60 million.
