Chamber chief executive Debra Murphy said there were 52 finalists from more than 100 entries with the most fierce competition coming in the excellence in small business, excellence in customer service, excellence in innovation and outstanding new Illawarra business award categories.
NowChem, Internetrix, Microsolve, Barrington Homes and Flagstaff Group demonstrated excellence in more than one area and were named a finalist in two or more categories.
"The Illawarra Business Chamber congratulates this stellar line-up of finalists who have all demonstrated extraordinary performance in their business and fields of expertise," Mrs Murphy said.
"The Illawarra Business Awards provide a unique opportunity to stop and recognise the otherwise unnoticed achievements of hard-working businesses across the region.
"We are passionate about celebrating success and building confidence in our business community."
Winners will be announced at a garden soiree on Friday, October 23 at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre, where former Illawarra Business of the Year winner Culinarius by Monika, owned by Monika Armstrong, is helping with the food.
