“The smell that’s around the seat of Wollongong causes me great grief,” he said, ahead of signing an agreement about turning WIN Entertainment Centre into a convention centre.
“Luke Foley is trying to lead the opposition out of a situation where I consider there are a lot of difficulties. As Lord Mayor of this city, I think we’ve been dudded, so as the community, we’re taking the initiative.”
Asked if the agreement was formed to lobby the government because Ms Hay wasn’t doing her job, Cr Bradbery said the city’s representation was “questionable” and controversy had dogged the state seat for some time.
Last year, ahead of the NSW election, Ms Hay and opposition spokesman for the Illawarra Ryan Park pledged $35 million to the convention centre project if Labor was elected.
