The action begins at 12 noon on Saturday.
The ice has spent the last two days setting and people are getting excited, according to Novotel’s Aaron Telford.
“We have sold over 600 tickets already. We are getting about 100 bookings a day mostly from families,” he said.
Beachside Ice Skating first came to The Deck at the Novotel Wollongong Northbeach in 2017.
But the feedback was visitors and locals would prefer the real thing instead of synthetic ice they at the beachfront hotel.
So a decision was made to transform the terrace into a winter wonderland using real ice in 2018.
There is not only interest from families interested in the open-air ice skating rink season operating from 12 noon to 8pm from July 7 to 22. But also the adults only sessions on Friday and Saturday night.
The additional 18 plus sessions include live music, DJs and a cocktail bar.
