Eight of the region's top junior basketballers are part of the National Intensive Training Centre Program.Cassandra Mangos, Ashley Thomas, Samantha Ligacs, Jordan Taylor, Jessica Pimoska, Matt Logan, Nicholas Kondakis and Jesse Baaner are all Illawarra representatives aged between 14 and 17 years. The group trains under long-term Illawarra junior coach Ray Warrington in Wollongong and are guided by NSW NITCP head coach Peter Lonegan once each month."They have weekly sessions with their network coaches and I come down and work with them every four or five weeks," Lonegan said."Illawarra has historically been a strong breeding ground for talent and the current crop we've got in the program are good athletes with a good understanding for the game."One of the best things about Illawarra basketball is that the kids are lucky to have a lot of experienced and knowledgeable coaches."
