The Rotary Club of Bulli and Northern Illawarra has held its book and music fair for more than 10 years.
Club public relations director Mitchell Gordon said an 1863 letter written on behalf of the Prince of Wales would be one of two items put up for a silent auction over the weekend.
"I found it in a book during the set-up for this event," he said.
"It's just responding to an inquiry. It just says that it's a response to an inquiry, that it will be dealt with."
Another item going up for the silent auction is a complete collection of Rolling Stone magazines, starting from 1987.
"They're all in mint condition. It's very unusual - we've never had anything donated like that before," he said.
Mr Gordon said he spoke to a dealer about the value of these items and was told that they could go for several hundred dollars each.
More than 10,000 books, records, magazines, comics, postcards and maps will be on sale.
"The Rotary Book Fair is a major fund-raising event for our club," Mr Gordon said.
"Funds raised at the fair go towards polio eradication and local community projects."
The fair is on today and tomorrow from 9.30am to 4.30pm at Bulli Community Centre on the Princes Highway.
