Familiar foes duel in South Coast decider

Lake Illawarra and Oak Flats meet for the second time in six days in today's South Coast final at Geoff Shaw Oval.

The Lakers booked their spot in the one-day decider with a tough win over Kookas, while Oak Flats ended the seven-round one-day season as the top side despite a final round washout against Kiama.

Lake Illawarra thrashed a depleted Oak Flats by 143 runs in a round of 16 SCG Cup clash last Sunday.

Lakers all-rounder Kerrod White smashed 104 as the home side made 8-221 then took 4-18 when the Rats were dismissed for 78.

This afternoon's clash is a rematch of last season's one-day final, won by Oak Flats, while Lakers went on to beat Oak Flats in the two-day premiership decider.

The Lakers and Oak Flats have each won two of the past four South Coast one-day titles.

Meanwhile, the other eight clubs begin their Christmas break, with the competition resuming with the first of five two-day rounds on January 11.

Oak Flats head into 2014 as premiership leaders, though just 18 points separate them from fifth-placed Albion Park.

Second-placed Shellharbour ended a three-game losing streak with last Saturday's win over The Rail. With Albion Park's match against Gerringong-Jamberoo washed out, Lakers leapfrogged Park into fourth with their win over Kookas.
