Hawks swingman Tim Coenraad has warned Wollongong cannot rely heavily on star US import Rotnei Clarke if they want to be an NBL title contender this season.
Kevin Tiggs continues his steady improvement since arriving in Wollongong, leading the way with 18 points in the Hawks' victory over the Kings in Sydney.
Coenraad said it's vital the Hawks share the load.
"It's really positive to have a game plan going into it and see that it actually worked and we got the win," Coenraad said.
"We can't just rely on Rotnei.
"He's been scoring with the ball really well and I hope he continues to score really well but I think we're at our best when we've got that nice spread across the board.
"The way we shoot the ball at times we can get really hot and we've got a lot of guys that shoot the three-ball really well.
"Rotnei's going to do his thing and now Kevin's starting to get a bit more comfortable as well, so if we can get a couple of other guys in double figures on the night we're a real hard team to stop."
The Hawks' second double-header of the year will kick off at The Cage on Friday before the return clash at WIN Entertainment Centre on New Year's Eve.
Coenraad said wins against the Kings will count for nought if they can't extend their winning run against the Tigers.
"Looking at the leaderboard with the exception of Perth and Adelaide the other teams are really bunched together," Coenraad said.
"If we can get a few wins together and take that momentum into these next few games we can really separate ourselves from the pack.
"Life's just better when you're winning. Life would be a lot easier if you'd just win all the time but that's not the way professional sports go."
