Cardinal George Pell ended his term as Archbishop of Sydney on Monday when Pope Francis summoned him to the Vatican to be in charge of overhauling its economic administration.
Wollongong’s Bishop Peter Ingham has congratulated Bishop Comensoli on his appointment.
‘‘We pray for him as he undertakes this onerous responsibility of administering the archdiocese of Sydney,’’ he said.
