The courts were abandoned several years ago in favour of new ones which were built adjacent.
However, with membership continuing to grow, it was ultimately decided to resurface the old facilities in order to give more members access to court time.
"The total to resurface the courts and renew lighting is around $120,000, plus another $20,000 for lights and Tennis NSW will also get on board to help promote the junior Hot Shots program," club president Michelle Quine said.
"We have already laid the wiring for the new lights, while the courts will be covered with Flexipave, which is the one being used in all top tournaments these days, meaning our juniors won't be inconvenienced when they go to tournaments.
"This will also give us five courts in the one complex, which is great."
The grant is part of the government's 2013-14 Sport and Recreation Participation and Facility Program.
"I was born and grew up in Gerringong so I feel very strongly about looking after this very special village and important local sporting assets such as the Gerringong Tennis Club," Kiama MP Gareth Ward said.
"If you've seen the old courts, you'd know they are dilapidated and in desperate need of repair.
"I would encourage sporting groups and local councils who are considering improving sporting facilities or starting a new program aimed at increasing participation to apply now for Round Two of the program before applications close on Wednesday, April 2."
