Daniel McQuilton, 27, was sentenced to five years and three months jail in 2009 over the random attack on a woman as she left a dance studio in Albury one winter evening the year before.
Police alleged McQuilton approached the woman from behind as she walked towards her vehicle in a car park and grabbed her, hit her and sexually assaulted her.

"I should be locked up for what I did," he told the District Court.
He also said he hadn't intended to sexually assault anyone, The Border Mail reported at the time.
"I had a lot of anger and frustration towards women in particular," he was reported to have told the court in 2009.
"I just wanted to release that anger."
Police say McQuilton's last known location was Oxford Square in Darlinghurst.
At around 4:15pm on Wednesday, an alarm alerted Corrective Services personnel that his tracking device had been removed.
It was found in Sydney CBD.
In a statement, police said McQuilton had breached his court-ordered supervision order.
He is described as being 186 centimetres tall, of medium build, with short blonde hair, a short goatee beard and green eyes.
He may travelling in a stolen, silver Mitsubishi Lancer with a NSW registration of VWX-357 and was last seen near West Street in Petersham in Sydney's inner-west.
Police say McQuilton is dangerous and should not be approached, but anyone who sees him should call Triple-0.
