The Illawarra Lions are desperate to make home ground advantage count in Saturday's Sydney AFL First Division clash against Macquarie University at North Dalton Park.

The Lions have had two wins and two losses and will want to make amends for a 33-point home loss to Holroyd-Parramatta last Saturday.

Lions player-coach Dave Nolen wants an improved performance against a Macquarie Uni side also with a 2-2 record.

"I think we went out there just expecting to win [against Parramatta] and didn't put the hard work in," Nolen said.

"We have to make our home games count because it's tough to beat the Sydney clubs on their home grounds."

The Lions will want a lift in intensity against Macquarie Uni, who are coming off a 13-point win over Penrith.

The Lions beat Penrith by five goals in round three.

Meanwhile, premiers Wollongong host improving Figtree in Saturday's best clash in round five of AFL South Coast Seniors.

Wollongong beat Northern Districts by 22 points in their first game in a month last Saturday while Figtree would have beaten Port Kembla but for having an extra player on the field for a short period in the fourth quarter of their Figtree Oval clash.

Figtree were leading Port by about 70 points when the indiscretion was realised and, after a player head-count, the Kangaroos had their entire score erased.

Port Kembla went on to win the game by 26 points, with Figtree officials accepting they had paid a high price for the error.

Figtree are in only their third season of first grade but are improving each week and while beating Wollongong would be a huge upset, the Kangaroos will be pushing for fourth spot this season, which they achieved last year.

Bomaderry, along with Kiama and Wollongong, are co-leaders on six points, with Bomaderry away to Albatross on Saturday.

In the other games, Shellharbour meet Nowra at North Dalton Park and Kiama host Port Kembla.
