Too Many Elephants in this House by Ursula Dubosarsky was read to children at 11am to encourage a passion for books and storytelling.
TIGS librarian Petra Pollum said reading books to children was the best part of her job.
"Just to see the expression on their face when they are so absorbed in a story, it's my favourite thing," she said.
"Their imagination takes them to a different place, their expressions are rapt."
Mrs Pollum added an elephant-mask decorating activity to further engage the children.
Sky MacNamara, aged 3, said she enjoyed reading with her parents every night. "It's fun and I can learn things," she said.
"The Very Cranky Bear is my favourite book, it has so many easy words."
