Tributes have been flowing on the girl's Facebook page since the early hours of Saturday morning when the 4WD she was travelling in left a state forest trail and rolled, throwing her from the vehicle.
Dozens of messages urging the teen to "Rest in peace" flooded the site, while others hoped she would find happiness and "fly high".
"R.I.P ... I hope you find happiness up there, you were such a lovely girl, love you beautiful," one friend wrote.
One teen, reportedly the girl's sister, likened her to the character Merida from Disney's Brave because of her "cheeky", "wild and free" spirit.
"You did everything right baby girl, you lived more in your short life than most people who live to their 40s ... I love you my sweety," she said.
On Monday, employees of the Shellharbour store where the teen worked were gutted.
"She was a beautiful girl, we just loved her. She was funny, very fun to work with and she was a good worker," the branch manager said. "We're just absolutely devastated, it was such a huge shock to everyone."
Police were called to the Lowes Mount State Forest after reports of a crash just after 12am on Saturday.
They were told the group, from Wollongong, were driving through the area in the 4WD before it left the trail and rolled.
The 15-year-old was thrown from the car and died at the scene. The 24-year-old driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to Oberon Hospital for mandatory blood tests.
Two other male passengers sustained minor injuries, while a third, a 20-year-old man, was flown to Orange Hospital suffering serious head and abdominal injuries.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated by police. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
