This historic event is to celebrate the start of the original slab church school, which was built in Jamberoo and took its first students on July 1, 1839.
Records have shown an amazing 130 children attended this Jamberoo School in 1880.
The Sisters of St Joseph took over from lay teachers in 1884.
With the opening of the quarries and the coming of the railway, Kiama established itself as the centre of the parish and in 1887 the Sisters moved to Kiama Catholic School.
Sadly by the end of that year the Jamberoo Catholic School was closed.
Entry on the night will be by gold coin donation. It starts at 6.30pm. Bring your own basket supper and drinks. Fancy dress is optional. There will be poetry and music.
Bookings are necessary to confirm your spot.
For details contact Anne Doorn on adoorn@bigpond.com or phone 4236 0013.
There will be a 9.30am mass the following morning.
