An ambulance service spokesperson said paramedics had been called to Wattle Road, Flinders, just before 1pm on Friday, responding to a call of a man being bitten by a dog.
Lake Illawarra police said the man, a local resident, was walking alone in Blackbutt Reserve and had been bitten several times by a dog that had come up on him from behind.
The man was taken to Shellharbour Hospital with puncture wounds to his leg. He remained in a stable condition in hospital on Friday evening
The incident brings the Illawarra’s dog attack total for the week to four. Friday’s callout came just days after a 10-year-old boy was viciously attacked by a German Shepherd and a Staffordshire terrier cross in Waley Avenue, Bellambi, on Tuesday.
The boy was taken to Wollongong Hospital with 20 puncture wounds to his legs, arms, hips, stomach, buttocks and head, and was later transferred to Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick in a serious condition.
In other dog incidents on Tuesday, an 11-year-old boy suffered multiple minor puncture wounds after being bitten by a small dog, while a 10-year-old was bitten on the buttocks and later driven to Sydney Children’s Hospital for treatment.
